January's client of the month is Geoff Gawlinski. Geoff sent me a testimonial the other week and I just had to share his story. It truly is inspiring.
I'll let Geoff tell you his story....
"Living in Calgary can be stressful as our city is experiencing unprecedented growth.
I am 40 years old and work as an insturctor in the Emergeny Services field. Combining work with being a full time Master's students can easily create bad habits.
Working long hours followed by homework leads to bad habits. I was missing workouts and eating junk food to fuel my body.
A couple of moths ago I returned to consistent workouts but was not seeing any of the gains I expected.
After reading Eating for Energy and just hoping to follow some of the basic concepts and improve my eating habits, in just 2 1/2 weeks I lost about 10 pounds and immediately noticed increased energy levels.
Further, my workouts revolve around weight training and cardio. I have started running more on the treadmill using intervals to provide variety to my workouts.
As I have a reconstructed ACL in my knee and minimal cartilage left I do not participate in team sports anymore. I do coach high school rugby and by improving my fitness I will be able to increase my level of
paticipation during practices.
I want to maintain a healthy active lifestyle and following your (Yuri's) priniples have made it easier for me to stay on track.
I just feel revitalized. When I wake up at 4:30 in the morning to get to the gym for 5:ooam I do not feel lke I am dragging myself to my workout.
I was just planning on making a few small changes but the book has changed the way I look at food.
Thanks Yuri!"
Awesome work Geoff!
What I love about Geoff's story is that in spite of his crazy busy schedule he has made a priority of exercising and eating well. He realizes that in order to be fully functional in his daily tasks (work, school) he needs to eat foods that will energize him as well as to physically train his body to be strong and resilient.
I think we can all learn a valuable lesson from Geoff....healthy living is a lifestyle! It's got to be part of who you are. It's not about fad diets or quick weight loss schemes!
Make yourself a promise to do just 1 new thing per day that will improve your health! Commit to it and make it happen.
Your friend and coach,
Yuri
